my love, my life
my very breath
everything I was
I gave freely to you
and was left with nothing
when you left

days dragged into endless nights
I became convinced
nothing would be right again
my quest was for numb
but it proved to be elusive

still, feet kept shuffling
lost, without purpose
blood continued its toil
through a hollow shell
whose heart was ripped out

a month? two?
hell truly is for eternity
or so it seemed

then anger arrived
kicked compliance to the curb
indignant disbelief
nursed backbone to straight
and respect for self
made its overdue appearance

from your compost heap
I rescued the remains
of my foolish heart
it’s not your treasure
but it’s no one’s trash

That's telling them!  No one's trash indeed.  A very poignant, pain-filled poem, and I felt the kick.

I loved this.  Loved it.  It reminds me of someone I know.  She didn't know she was strong - until she got angry enough not to be anything but.

I love the power in this, dear Ruth. Love and respect for ourselves means salvation.

Significant, poignant words beautifully expressed.

WoW! WoW! WoW!

What a heart churner and, then, again, what a strong and defiant statement!

I enjoyed the emotion of your poem very, very much,

God bless,

Thank you very much!!
You wrote this with a whole lotta style and class.  Your ending says it all, and says it perfectly.
Not all hearts are created equal, or feel so deeply!!  Some people get their kicks in strange ways,
and think nothing of toying with our most precious gift.

You're really beautiful, you know!!

Mysteria: Thank you very much! *S*

DS: Complete with stockings, seams straight down the back. *G* Thank you! *S*

Morning Star: Sometimes that anger is slow showing up... can't get over, around or through the hurt. *S* Thank you!

Margherita: I've always heard that you can't be loved until you can love yourself... and I'm still waiting on that. *S* But respect is here... and it's a pretty good filter. *S* Thank you! *S*

Bob: Thank you so much, kind friend! *S*

Blues: Now you're gonna make this ole biddy get mushy. *S* Thank you so much, sweet lady! *S*

suthern - you do write with much emotion, and you're correct, one's heart is not trash but a treasure to be cherished. Wish you the best...

~ Suthern One, I truly believe that he never got to know the real you. ~ For to know you, is to surely love you! He proved that he was not worthy of a woman as special as you.

You have vividly expressed what far too many women have experienced. You lived to tell the story ~ and very well at that! Well done!

Much love to you my friend!

suthern,

What a strong lady you are - even when you might think you are at your most weak, you are strong.  I am glad that you rose from the shuffle phase to the kick to the curb phase.  I have some great boots if you should ever need them to kick again ... God, knows I hope that you never do.  You are my hero for the weekend.

Love,
Alison

Money can't buy such a gift, and friends can try to give you such a wisdom, but this sort of celebration of self can only come from the self.

What a wonderful way to celebrate your b'day.

*flex those muscles* dawlin'.

I love you.

Great working of a sad and tragic story, Suthern.  I loved the strong and positive outcome, the beauty of recovery, and the excitement of reconnection with self.  Fine work.

My very best wishes to you dear Ruth for it shows that you have the strength and will

power to rise from the mire of a bad situation and I admire you for that. You

are far to lovely and kind hearted person
to be treated like that. Good luck my dear.
Love to you dear friend.

Now, this is the statement more women need to make. A little self respect goes a long way toward finding someone who is worthy of
strong and loving woman. Love this.
