stranger
don’t be offended
if I call you just that
for you have penetrated my life
with an intensity
unknown to me
so much it scares me

stranger
please forgive me
when my words are not that delicate
for I don’t want to hurt you
you’ve had more than your share
the wound is still fresh
I should know

stranger
don’t think much of it
when I say I miss you
for I need you to validate me still
to close the void within me
do you ever think of me
like I think of you

stranger
don’t you feel it
I’m struggling to keep a distance
for you’re engraving your presence in my soul
with a dagger
of cruel reality
we have no raison d’etre
or do we?

shalisadefa - I read words written to a stranger from a warm heart. Nicely done...

Shalisadefa, I liked this poignant piece of poetry.  At first reading, it worried me a bit, as the writer seemed to be seeking validation from a stranger.  Then I saw the underlying truth of it, and the tasteful presentation of this cry from the heart.  Well done.
Peace

Thank you very much for replying BillCharles and AH; it was a pleasant surprise!
As this one is so very personal, I wasn't expecting any reaction at all.
AH, your remark about a 'cry from the heart' went right through my soul.
