catholic chevyholics
the low slow easy men
doing the sixty six in no motion
wearing the dainty eye girls
fresh from their dance dollars

they wrinkle their ink
when flexing the willing
waiting for sighs to slide
across bench seat leathering
and for a hand to handle wanting

gravy in blue is the mood
music that stirs paint into neon
and makes the bullets stay in boxes
just the metal can go to war today
and through the night too into indigo

to know the bones of their gypsy wheels

___________

daark (doing the 66)

gravy in blue is the mood

But past the deserted buildings at the side of the road, there are mountains in the distance... an instant lift of mood to this reluctant flatlander. *S*

Enjoyed this very much, my friend... both poem and picture took me far from cubicle. *S*

It's been decades since I've been on 66...
always loved the vastness,
being at one easily with the lonliness
of the spaces.

Enjoyed the photo, loved the words.

The poem was great, never been on 66, wish to see it if I ever hit the road. Also the picture goes well with the poem

Dark Stranger - it's been a long time since I've driven route 66. The place in your photo I've seen when driving I believe. Geez, things do change with time...

Yo, DS. Got my kicks on Route 66 today, fer sure.  Well done, oh chronicler of the highways and byways, the leather and the flesh, the oil and the exhaust.  Way cool, man.
Peace
