Olde Faery Woods
by Linda L. Dowd

While traipsing thru’ Olde Faery Woods,
I marvelled at all that I saw.
~ Fairy rings and wee elfin things,
I flushed in rapt wonder and awe.

The sky was neon and glowing
with radiant colours galore.
Spring waters sparkled like diamonds.
Rare gemstones glittered along shore.

Tall geysers rose into rainbows.
~ A most glorious sight to see,
while unicorns draped in roses,
were gambolling by side of me.

Sweet music rang thru’ the forest
as Tanagers sang high in trees
and butterflies of vibrant hues,
lined the hills, the valleys, and leas.

In midst of these mystical woods,
there dwelled the Olde Faery in well
~ from whence all magic was woven.
O’ Merry, o’ Derry, o’ Dell.

*+*

Wee elves, the sprites, and the fairies
were friends with fauna and flora.
All lived in harmony together,
in land of mirth and begorrah.

This is very good.  i enjoy poems that use the word "galore".

Magical and beautiful work, Linda.  I love the classic feel of it.  Is the illustration by Arthur Rackham? Great read.

You dip your pen in a wishing well and cast on us a magical spell... and I don't want the enchantment to end. *S*

Beautiful work!! I greatly enjoyed! *S*

A wonder story written in good form. The Rhyme scheme and rhythm worked hand in hand and the four line stanzas made it easy to follow like a song. Thanks for the read.

Ancient Cool One ~

I always put the name of the artist under the painting ~ if I know who it is. Unfortunately this one was on the net without one so I am unable to give the artist's his/her due credit. I have used several of Arthur Rackham's artworks to accompany my poems. His paintings are charming and with lots of character.

Thank you for the kind and thoughtful response to this poet!
