What is it we seek?
Never truly happy or content,
always a dark shadow cast
before us on our future
path? No matter the love,
the beauty, people who care,
always empty inside and restless.
Do we expect too much
from a life that is
as it is? Ruthless, uncaring,
save for things that cannot
and never will truly last.
Is this why we are
cursed in this time?
Have we forgotten the core
values that make us unique?

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. Lao Tzu 6th century BC.

"Modern Questions" indeed, Goldenrose.  This cry for sanity is one that most of us must reflect upon.  Unfortunately the traditional answers seem to be no longer valid.
Very good read. Thank you, and

So many good thoughts to ponder!!  I wonder how we become our worst enemy and biggest fan!!  I guess it's about how we choose to see ourselves.

Reminds me our own Suthern gals poem,

"I might not be your treasure but I'm nobody's trash either"

Thank you for this, Goldenrose, I do so enjoy reading you.

"No matter the love,
the beauty, people who care,
always empty inside and restless."

~ A sad commentary on a far-too often scenario!

"Have we forgotten the core
values that make us unique?"

~ I know that you haven't!

very appropriate (and timely) questions to ask of this 'post-modern' world ...

most folks perhaps expect far too much of each other as well?!

I wonder too.

You are on my line of thought now.

I could go on but you already know how I feel.
