At the end of October,
she missed her chance
her train to Neverland,

The music fizzled,
faded like a young girl's voice as the years rolled by.
Her chance to be a different person,
a chance to say her name
without receiving a grimace or a sigh.

She watched until the train left her sight,
her suitcase next to her legs,
her tears moved across the edge of her right lip,
and then as she winced,

She caught a glimpse of a young girl with her mother,
A sight she had forgotten after all these years.
The girls short brown locks,
Standing underneath the winds gust, as the minutes watched from the overhead clock.

And she smiled as her mother looked down on her,
No words exchanged, just eyes between the sun and stage.

So a train was missed,
but she remembered what it felt to be young, again.

And that's a priceless ride. *S* I enjoyed this! *S*

A beautiful intimate piece. Let's run it back up to the top for a few more comments. It deserves them.
