Historians should walk the plank
concerning Drs. Stein & Frank.
I merely hope it's not too late'
for me to set the record straight.
It seems like only yesterday
my colleagues were resigned to play
about with life to recreate
a monster to re-animate.
"But Doc, that's just what Shelley said,
they set about to raise the dead."
This much is true, oh doubtful one
what differs is on how 'twas done.
Instead of electricity
they used this thing called "poetry"
which caused the monster to convulse
until he had a steady pulse
an' took to stompin' with his feet
around these Piptalk Forum streets.
"Now Doc, you must be jivin' us,
this ain't our first day off the bus,
'n poetry can't raise the dead,
you must be samplin' your own meds"!
My wooden nickle takers, no!
Here's how the rest unfolds, like so...
The village Pipsters quite alarmed
grabbed torch and rake and set off armed
to stop that crazed poem spoutin' beast
then, just when they expect it least
the Drs. Stein & Frank make clear
'twas not a beast , but , Balladeer!
At this the village Pipsters cheer
and head down to the Pub for beer!

And me? Well I just disappear,
until such time where I await
to set another record straight.

It's true I've been at times mistook
For that poor creature in the book
Who made the village shake with fear
Whenever he would venture near
But let me set the record straight
Before the time becomes too late
There is no monster lurking here..
It's just your friendly Balladeer.

No monster haunts these halls of blue
It's just your loving you-know-who,
A pussycat, poetically,
and picture of serenity.
Put down your torches, friends of mine.
There is no evil Frankenstein
Or Dracula, instilling fear.
It's just your friendly Balladeer.

Bal? You look like serenity??? Really? *G* verrrrrrrrrry interesting! LOL (And your denials work only as long as your cohorts are absent... you know Toe and LJA would testify that Doc's telling the gospel truth. *G*)

Doc? You can't disappear... not now that I know where you hide! LOL This is ... ahem... "history" at its best... and I thoroughly enjoyed! *S*

shalisadefa,
Thank you, I'm glad you found it entertaining. As for inspiration, well lets' see, Halloween is just around the corner( Frankenstein )the X-men Origins movie was released a while back, and I've got a ten year history of putting my own little spin on some classic tales here, and ,oh yeah, last but not least, my good friend Balladeer makes such an excellent target. Put 'em all together and you've just about got the "perfect storm" lol!
Doc

Brneyedgrly,
Thanks so much.
Doc

Balladeer,
I was merely offering one possible explanation for your poetic expertise, lol.
Doc

suthern,
Lol @ your reply, I also had trouble picturing him looking like serenity! Must be the lighting.
Doc
