When lilacs catch the soft of spring,
turn sunshine to perfume,
When bluebirds paint the lofty skies
and heaven gives them room,
  I'll hitch a ride on happiness;
  I'll fly to where you are,
When stardust twinkles from your eyes,
and moonlight gardens bloom.

When breezes sigh across the sea,
wings dream in gilded dawn,
When conch shells echo memories
of an old lovesong,
  I'll hitch a ride on happiness;
  I'll fly to where you are,
When "I Love You" in the sand
is wished upon a star.

When raindrops slake the roses,
my morning's kissed in dew,
When music calls my heart to arms
and all my world is new,
  I'll hitch a ride on happiness
  I'll fly to where you are!
When heartbeat's thrill is time stood still
and I slow dance with you.

Thank you, D. This was an attempt at a song... Someone with smiling eyes once told me the secret of singing.  I wish I could remember his exact words.

This is beyond lovely.  It's a keeper for sure and I am starting my day with it (I think I'll just carry it in my pocket).

You make me want to sing - but it is way too early.  I can't do anything but yawn.

Alison...stop that!  Yawns are contagious!  LOL

Thank you for the sweet response and the smile (also contagious!).  I hope your day sings!

Suthern, Oh, but it is something you do... and I see it in your poetry with your own heart in tow.  That's the things about songs...and we make them our own.

Absolutely gorgeous! I can smell a lilac scent riding the ocean breeze, all the way up the coast! Thank you for such a pleasant morning greeting.
