silently I slip past your temple
abstaining from dogma
but still baptized in treason

I whisper a prayer under my breath
something to the saints
absolution does not reverberate

halcyon days, my Holy ground
are ephemerally fading
yet, sacrificial in all seasons

you plead your God for forgiveness
atonement for mortal sin
He answers you with grace

angels weep at this denouement
on the cusp of heartbreak
at the edge of reason

I stand on precipice in pieces

akimbo again in November martyrdom

.
