If I fell into a bottomless pit
Would you light me a candle
So at least it was lit?

I saw you standing, crying
No one to see, no one to care
I saw you there, I was spying
I'd be the one to be, for you here

Odd to say
Change my mind
Mold it like clay
Just promise

This life of sin
That we are livin' in
Will never break me
As if I'd be noticed

Through the darkness I fell
A smile played a melody to hell
Through the darkness I saw
A candle drifting straining to be
Noticed

I called her "Faith"
She became my friend
Know this
She came to an end

Lost to the darkness
My dearest Faith did
Once so bright now spark less
I like to believe
From the hate, she hid

I can picture if I close my eyes
Her standing on a tower, to be the guide
The light burning strong, bringing truth to lies
I can imagine the moon on the swelling tide

I dream of you, while I am alone
You the torch, on the wall of stone
I tell you now its a sight to see
When you are in the dark, as dark, can be

Did you once lead an assault on a castle wall?
Did you light the way through the forest?
Were you once the brightest flame they've ever saw?
Such a masterpiece yet a luxury for the poorest.

And maybe even if you were alone as I
You'd never feel my pain
For unlike you I have to ask why
Why I never feel sane

The love I have, the desire for Faith
All in one, one in all, they are the very same
Above all else, I have the memory
Of the night in which you first came

Let me beg you just this once
An ounce of decency
For I feel in my gut, I have this hunch
That you complete me

So, If I fell into a bottomless pit
Would you light me a candle
So at least it was lit?

Would you call out to me so that I knew the way
To follow the path that you might lay
With my Faith in one hand, and your voice to guide
I would fight my way through the tide.

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." Oscar Wilde
