Within a locket tightly sealed
A secret love not once revealed
Moved lovingly with every breath
And dangled there upon her breast

He wondered if his portrait’s place
Was in her locket face to face
But she would honor no request
To show the locket on her breast

And now the necklace lay in place
Across her bodice fringed in lace
A secret even in her death
Remained unsealed  upon her breast

Whose portrait had bestowed such worth
That she wouldn’t leave it here on earth?
For someone honored her request
To leave the locket on her breast

A gold medallion tightly closed
Was a tormenting pain imposed
The source of his profound unrest
Lay silently across her breast

He stood above her looking down
At glittering gold on ivory gown
And in the whisper of a breath
Asked of his love one last request

Could he unlatch  the dreams of youth
And finally unlock the truth?
Concealed in life and now in death
A secret with no living breath

A gentle finger could unclasp
The ornament within his grasp
The source of his most dire quest
Lay waiting there upon her breast

A single tear fell as he grieved
As though to beg a small reprieve
Her countenance seemed to bequest
To him the locket on her breast

He loved her so that he would leave
A secret he would always grieve
Though his unrest would never cease
He let the locket rest in peace

Now had you expanded that into a story I would probably of sat here all day reading to the story to the very end to finally see who was in that locket   Beautiful tale told by our master sonnet sweetie indeed.

Now were that about me, there would be George Clooney on one side, and Brad Pitt on the other.  ((*^))
