Gravel under my muddy shoes
Stain on my shirt
Hole in my heart
Scars on my face
From years of abuse
Hands are shaky
Hair- I probably got too much
Lord knows its not soft to the touch
The cloudy days are here
Sunny days- Don't know what they are
Not much to look at
I speak too soft
My eyes are brown- Like the rest of the world
At the most I got a nice smile
At the least I'm probably in denial
Some say I'm beautiful
Some say I'm ugly
My soul isn't what it used to be
And my pride? Hah. What's that?
Even if I had you, for just one night
I'd probably lose you, before sunlight
My moms frowns at my path
My pops took off running and fell flat
You can listen to my voice
Say its raspy and rough
Good
Maybe that'll be enough
To touch the sky
But I don't know why
I can love you
But he can probably love you better
I can speak my mind, become your idol
But in this world, is it so vital?
Perhaps...
The gravel under my muddy shoes
On the path to nothing
Should I find you, just so you can walk on past?
...
Stare at the ground
Watch the grass grow
Listen to not a sound

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." Oscar Wilde

I love these poetic ponderings of yours, Zachariah. You are good.

"My soul isn't what it used to be" you say ... look twice and deeper please ... and you will see its perfect radiance!

Love,
Margherita

There will probabably always be somebody better than who we are on a certain level.
But does it matter? YOU are the one shining now!
