Have you ever walked a mile in a sinners shoes?
Walked that rocky road to no-way-in-hell?
Then why do you smile and let the sinner lose?

Have you ever held that stone,
Watched them pass while you were alone,
Have you ever felt the sorrow of a misguided soul?

You've never been so broken hearted
Only song in you were the blues
Felt hate for the sun as the clouds parted

Some of us were born to win
Some of us were born to sin
I know, I was born to lose again and again

Some of us were born to defend
The weak
Some of us were born to lend
A helping hand

Yesterday I was so strong
So strong indeed yes, I believe
I could have taken the world head-strong

Have you ever crumbled down
Your powder blowing away
Like dust in the wind

What then?
How could you build up once more
Like paper forever tore

I know that it hurts
I welcome the pain
It soothes my soul
Lets me know
This is real.

So very real.

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." Oscar Wilde

Our Brown-eyed beauty wrote the 'exact' response that I was going to write!

"Have you ever crumbled down
Your powder blowing away
Like dust in the wind"

~ Yes. Earth life ain't easy! But I pick myself up and dust myself off and get back in the saddle again, so to speak!

"What then?
How could you build up once more
Like paper forever tore"

~ I often wonder that myself? ~ But I have always (well, ALMOST always) found it worth the effort.

We ofttimes have more strength than we may realize.

Your thought-provoking poem provoked some thoughts of my own! lol
