She woke up all of sudden
Glanced at the clock
What time is it now?
Did he wake me up again?

He would sneak in their room every morning
Sometimes it's six or two
There would be cuddle and kisses
His brother would join in too

But this morning something is different
She looked around her bed
But where is that little rascal?
Maybe it's all in her head?

She puts her nightgown on
And stepped out of her room
Carefully closing the door behind her
And walked towards his room

She opened his door ever so quietly
So to not make a sound
Where is that little rascal?
Why isn't he around?

His room was awfully quiet
The bed was surprisingly made
But where is that little rascal?
Perhaps he's already awake

So she step quickly downstairs
Calling out his name
Where are you, she called out even louder
But it was just all in vain

Her heart was beating faster
She's screaming for him by now
Tears came washing down her face
Where is my angel, where is he now?

He's no longer with us, she hears
He's not suffering any more
So what is she suppose to do now?
Because she’s lost her soul

meljo...Tears of emptiness are streaming down my face as I write these words. Sort of whimsical at first then so tragic at the end it brought a lump in my throat...Paul

Such a twist. And it managed to twist me inside also.

I wrote this poem because this is how I feel for my best friend, who'd lost her son last weekend. He was only seven. We were so close and I feel so sad but I can't imagine how devasted my friend is feeling right now. We always call him 'little rascal' because he was very active, so full of joy and very cheeky.
