Here I am
Against the sky,
With a hand waving bye
To the sun.
Have I made it through this day,
Already?
I'm still whole,
No sight of blood,
But there's tears in the mud
That the rain has created.

The sky dims to black,
Rain rushes down,
But here I stay.
Here I am

Against the shadows,
Arms crossed,
They shiver.
Still I'm whole
No missing fingers,
No missing toes,
But I can't find
My compact mirror,
Can't see who I've become,

So have I made it through this day,
Or have I failed?
Laying my back
Against a weeping sky,
Only to allow the hail
To throw its punches,
Cause I can take it,

But will I still be whole
For the next day to come?

The hardest part about writing poetry,
is trying not to write like everyone else.
