He is gone for the hunt.
His priest guides behind
while he dances 'neath heaven.
. . .She waits.
Pueblo dark, only Gods and Coyote
watch from the mountain
buried behind a half- lit moon.

Gray owl hides in the rafters,
eyeswide ... will he return this night?
Dying embers in the Kiva,
she will kindle another
in the chill, shoulders bare, lonely.
with only the wolf; she loves the wolf.
It is his name-hers.
Shared on their wedding bed.
More than a kiss, a passion of souls,
that wholly night,
the hunter and she-wolf
kissed, touched and loved.
Memories to keep her warm,
as winter snow teases, hiding
on this night in Taos.
Quick prayer!
He will not leave tracks upon white,
traveling through his wood,
searching for the bear,
his stone 'round his neck

She waits
between feathers - soft, counting
diamonds in the sky.
No need to weep, he will return
with his claw dipped in blood.

He is gone for the hunt!

~ Jan, this is an exceptional piece of writing. I was totally immersed in your words ~ the visions, the feelings, the serene beauty...

Thanks guys:

Probably so, Dark Stranger, but I have never written a screen-play.  Just something that I have never ventured into, YET!  (lol)

A tale that brings goosebumps, dear Janet! You have really rendered the atmosphere in a masterful way!

You were she-wolf.

No art-work to go with? Would have been interesting to see your interpretation.

Love,
Margrit
