She must have been the wind song of November
That rocked my fragile innocence to sleep
She must have been that one undying ember
That still enfolds my essence when I weep

She must have harnessed all of wisdom’s glory
And laid it there beside me on my bed
It gently seeped from every nighttime story
And cushioned every footstep that I tred

Of all the clouds that shrouded me in sorrow
When fallen in a bitter dark abyss
She must have been the sun of my tomorrow
The promise of a warm maternal kiss

There is no other love that has transcended
The deepest emerald fathoms of the sea
She saved all of her dreams that somehow ended
And passed them on so lovingy to me

I have never read a more beautiful mother's poem. You should post it again for Mother's Day.

You do it to me every time! Some part of my anatomy is always affected by your poetry ~ tears in my eyes, butterflies in my tummy, a lump in my throat, a flushing face, an increase in my heartbeat...

For this expression of love for your mother, it was all of the above. I have a photo of my mother ~ who passed 3 years ago, on the wall behind my computer. I could swear that her smile grew wider as I read your poem to her... Thank you, poetess Liz.

Much love to you,
Linda

Beautiful, Liz.

This touched my heart tonight. I'm missing my mom, and this was just lovely to read. Thank you for the warmth and comfort these words bring.

Best wishes and hugs,

Dear Liz, that is one of the very best poems that I have ever read that you have

posted here. A beautiful poignant, heart warming poem that was such a delight to read

and read again. Thanks for sharing this masterpiece with us all. Love you.
