we enjoy blue Motel 6
as a quiet strawberry feast,
our bedroom is the biggest
with a large picture window
looking onto busy Oakland,
we cross Bay Bridge every day
like boastful brats seeking gold
eating rain and smoking phones,
our grey Ford match perfectly
with economy and comfort,
I can teach you elevators,
I can teach you chinese food,
or taking american pictures,
we spend an afternoon at Candlestick Park,
everything we do is an event,
like seeing elephants in a bar
or escaping from piers.

Though you speak of rain and a grey Ford, this is most colorful, dear Yann. I very much enjoy your travel poems and this is no exception. Must tell my friend from Oakland to come read this, as the artist he is he will enjoy it too.

You have improved so much in expressing yourself poetically in English during the past months. I am sure our English speaking Poet friends will confirm this.

Love,
Margherita

"like seeing elephants in a bar,
or escaping from piers."
Isn't it true: life is just a way of looking at things. There is magic in the ordinary if we just look for it.
If you have discovered this you are on your way to a wonderfully fun life.
It looks like you have!

Love you poems about your travels, yann I haven't been to nearly as many places as you have (even here in the states) but I have been to San Francisco and crossed the Bay Bridge. I don't like bridges much and it scared the devil out of me and that was before the earthquake.

Thanks Ida, your comment troubled me because you are scared about bridges, crossing a bridge take a few seconds, and earthquake happens once out of ten years or hundred years, the probability is slim and you have not to be scared (one out a billion it happens) Thanks for the supportive and kind comment.

Hello, dear Yann the Man ~

Oh, how I love to read your poetic 'travelogues'. (Canadian spelling ~ as is "colour", "gray", "humour"... )

I concur with Margherita's comment regarding how well you are able to express yourself in English. My poetry would be a nightmare to behold if I were to write it in French!
