Exquisite midnight rose
Petals moist with tears
Soft and silken beauty
Dream not of your fears
Though autumn is calling
And summer must depart
Season's lovely sentiments
Stay forever in my heart
Perhaps another autumn
When a blazing fire glows
In the quiet of the evening
I'll recall a sad blue rose.....

Oh my, such an elegant refined presentation, I can't stop absorbing this beauty in its whole, words and picture.

The melancholy of the words is mitigated by the awareness of love's presence through all the seasons.

A write I can relate to, dear Katriona, beautiful Poetess. It is a deep pleasure to read you.

Love and hugs.

Thank you Margherita, it always makes me kind of sad to see the last roses fade and die

Thanks jwesley, I haven't seen blue roses myself, but I know they exist, hybrids of course.

Loved it, Katriona.  I feel the same way.  My roses are still with me, but not the same.  They are getting ready for sleep and I think I may have more petals on the ground than grass, right now!  (lol)

Wonderful writing!

Lovely poem, Katriona. It doesn't get very cold here so my roses bloom most of the year, just better at certain times.
