Change comes at a lesser or greater degree
but Magic, you know, is self-actualizing
and stands as it is and always has been
the best and the greatest originator.

Unseen it displays personality traits
to the watcher and listener allowed the silence
but when silence is shattered there follows a fall
from the highest to lowest, largest to smallest,
and from what’s meant to what now is.

I call like a woman deaf to the world
“Rise up, rise up!  Come Magic to me!”
but Magic has me completely disowned
here in the midst of unholy commotion.

‘tis unholy to be imprisoned for life
behind the bars of untenable noise
that keeps Magic at a distance too far
from the reach of a woman’s incredible power.

“Rise up, rise up!”  Magic’s not dead
but how can it hear a plaintive plea
or the roar of a firmly delivered order
above the din of human betrayal?

The beginning and end of your poem is full of contrasts, and it works perfectly.

Sad when the magic is gone and leaves us to ponder.

Such a powerful plea, dear Helen! No doubt, we think that magic needs a very particular atmosphere, circumstance, silence to manifest, but I am reminded here of what a spiritual teacher once said: if you don't learn to meditate with open eyes and inmidst of chaos, you have missed the point.

With magic it is the same, I believe. There are no prisons for our mind and magic is free to break whatever bars we might have placed in its way. It's in your power to manifest it.

Just my thoughts. Your exquisite poem's ripples caused me to ponder.

Love and hugs.

Magic is interesting - sometimes it's there and we don't know it.  It's like we are wearing sunglasses to shield us from what we are not ready to see.  Your poetry, Helen, never fails to make me sit back and think.  I often feel my comments are inadequate and I have a hard time expressing my feelings about the poetry that you share with us.  Just know it compells me to read - that's the magic in you (to me).

Thank you, Bluesy.  Life is full of contrasts, isn't it.

Lindsay - No, you don't want to feel the noise that I'm speaking about.  It's traffic noise that never ends but the one behind the words interprets it in the way of the ... hmmm? "Spirit" perhaps.

Margherita - You teach by your comments and I thank you so much.

Alison - I don't know what to say.  You pay me a high compliment so if I just say, "Thank you" please know that it's said with humble pleasure and gratitude.  Thank you!  I never wear sunglasses and that's perhaps my problem in life.  Oh, not the only problem because when one sees, one also feels.  That's a bigger problem sometimes.

Hi, Honey. Sending bunches of (((hugs))) your way!

"‘tis unholy to be imprisoned for life
behind the bars of untenable noise
that keeps Magic at a distance too far
from the reach of a woman’s incredible power."

~ Begone, noise!!! Let the magic return to our Helen's life!!!

Dear Linda - Thank you for that "spell".  It will work because the alternative is too terrible to even contemplate.

Love
