She stood there with her torch held high
To watch planes falling from the sky
As silver bullets ripped apart
The center of her loving heart
With disregard for sanity
In senseless act of lunacy
She saw her children fall and die
The day I saw my lady cry.

I LIFT MY LAMP....so reads her plaque
Just miles from terrorist attack
Her open doors now violated
By pure evil orchestrated
Hounds of Hell have been released
And Good must rise to kill the Beast.
I saw her head droop, shaking "Why?"
The day I saw my lady cry.

Her tears will bring on bitter rain
Unleashing winds of hurricane
To circle globe in whirlwind force
Uncover evil at its source
Then seek exacting recompense
From those who prey on innocents.
They'll not forget, as time goes by,
The day they made my lady cry.

Dear Michael, this is such a significant reminder that we must go on working for peace, eradicating evil by transforming this world into a world of love and mutual respect.

Your words are deeply felt and powerful.

Love,
Margherita

That was a day that made all ladies and men cry, and one that should never, ever be forgotten.  A wonderfully worded reminder Sir Balladeer.

I'll never forget 9/11 and your poem really hits my heart. I was at Nan's in Cape Cod a year later on 9/11, the start of my USA trip to meet the PIP poets.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

My good friend Michael that is a very well written reminder of that tragic day on 9-11,

one that I sincerely hope that we will never see again. Take care.

Might I suggest that you repost this moving 9/11 poem EVERY year! ~ Lest we forget! ~ Which, in actuality, is HIGHLY unlikely.

Scars run deep.

Exacting recompense may be a surprise when ground zero finally clears "my Lady's" eyes.

Since that day of infamy, the world is still torn apart, and her children seem mere echoes in "my Lady's" heart.

We will recall the tears, the pain, and history will rue the day, that God and liberty were mocked beneath "my Lady's" torch that day.

.......

Thank you for the re-post, Balladeer.

One of the most terrible and devastating terror attacks in world history, wound is deep and the pain still lurks. Sincerely wish such inhuman acts never occur again. Very heartfelt poem. World peace.

As always, your words touch deeply. Living so close to all 3 tragedies definitely can never be forgotten.
