Spectral Skies

With setting of fall’s smouldering halcyon sun,
the horizon is a kaleidoscope of deep ruby red,
canary yellow, persimmon orange and apricot gold.
In unison, these vibrant colors sing in perfect harmony
--Mother Earth’s perfect spectral serenade.

Jan, thank you for your lovely reply. I'm glad that we have something in common. I love the fall, this was a wonderful thing to read from you. I most certainly hope you post many autumn poems. I would love to read them as much as I love to read all your wonderful poems.

A long while ago I was inticed to sing without the aid of photography [which I always thought added to a poem]. In that challenge, I wondered, what would a blind man see?

Your poem is lovely, of course, and it depicts the beauty of the photography. As a would-be poet to a good poet, how would you change it IF the person that would read this poem by the way of only hearing, might you change it? I'm posting this response not only because I like reading you, but because you do welcome constructive critiques.

Dearest Sunshine, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a constructive and flattering response. It has given me pause for consideration. I write my poems and then look for pictures to complement them.

I really like that idea of writing a poem while keeping in mind that you're describing it in a way that a visually impaired individual would be able to visualize.

I appreciate the time you took to suggest this to me. I'll keep this in mind whenever I write. Thank you!

Love the title! I didn't know whether the "Spectral" meant ghostly or prismatic. Upon seeing the picture, I knew that it was the latter meaning! Spectacular spectral colours!

I also enjoyed your creative description of colours!

Great job!!!

Oh my gosh, simply reading your vivid depiction of a late summer/early autumn dawn/dusk left me salivating (persimmons are my favorite fruit in that they're basically a dessert in itself, with apricots also tantalizing) which precisely gets to where I'm coming from when I say how you have an amazing git at painting pictures with words through the device of imagery! (smiles)

This is a true keeper, my friend, have a wonderful dusk and beyond!
