Near golden sunsets

Again the blue draws me deeper,
bringing light to dark and dark to light
in simple phrases and short bursts
of finely relayed emotion.

And even lowercase has subtle meaning
amid a novel of abrupt sentences
and (un)happy endings;
exclamations of yes and no.
Maybe.

Punctuation is hardly welcome,
but masked structure creeps
between a barely hidden prosody
and the irregular rhythm of a slur.

Again the blue draws me deeper,
knowing the distance between a word
and a response silently craved.
Expectation drowns.

And the mid-nights pass in ticks,
keystrokes that echo in a silent house
barely hiding the muffled sounds
of her breathing in dream.

Do I wake her to query the unending
thoughts that harry blissful sleep?
Or continue to petition the blue
in inevitable expectation?
It drowns.

Even lowercase has subtle meaning
amid an unending array of pointless
structure.

-*-*-

Divide me again.

Well look who's back here in the "Blue" with a pretty darn good poem I might add.  Good to read you again, and somehow I think each key stroke will definitely have relevance.

WOW! Philip, your name has been scarce around here!
Good to read you again, and this was an exceptionally great read for me. I have insomnia, cannot sleep, and to find this treasure early in the morning even before having any coffee is a wonderful treat.
I'm sticking this one into my library, thank you.
