Stars were sparkling in fine champagne
As I set out for Dreamland's Realm
In velvet Midnight's starry reign
While the Harvest Moon stood at the helm

Beneath enticing, luminous beams
That seemed to lift me up to space
My fantasies and lustrous dreams
Were held in starlight's soft embrace

Where man or beast do not intrude
Beyond the borders that ignite
This stellar, wondrous interlude
Bewitching all with lunar light

Within my magic orb of sleep
Dream-haunted and slumber-dim
Vast canopies of loveliness
Flowed over my mind's elusive brim

And I was awestruck gazing there
For my heart was drenched in stars
Trailing silvery flowers fair
Which spilled from crystal jars

There was no-one with whom to speak
To guide me through the Milky Way
Than my companion, fickle sleep
Across the astral deep blue bay

Beguiling and alluring scenes
Emerge when dreams and stars unite
Surely a part of Heaven's schemes
To spellbind you on Dreamland's Flight

hi Katriona, your poem is magical, words of stars and lights are so well musical and subtle, it gives a wonderful show and this is what poetry is made for, your poem shines like the stars it defined...Thanks you very much

You know?  Katriona, your rhyme and stance is always so perfect.  Not easy to do when writing about life and natuares.  Great poem!

Thank you everybody, I really write those "starry" poems for my grandson because he's simply fascinated by what goes on in the Milky Way. And of course I always have to spin a little story around the stars, for he's only 4.1/2 years old.  We often go out stargazing together when he stays with me at the weekend Already now he knows the names of many stars.
