I like to think that Nature has arranged
The most wonderful vows to be exchanged
When Autumn's Bride both beautiful and bold
Is dressed in amber, violet and gold

The scent of woodsmoke faint upon the day
Where copper branches crown the bowered way
And forest paths are decked in greys and browns
Hiding black-eyed poppies in their red gowns

Though mellow fields are edged by brilliant trees
Wearing Nature's gems of ruby wine leaves
Flowers close their petals to fading light
Beneath the dome of The First Frosty Night

Now regal in her jewels of amethyst
Autumn's Bride slips shyly into the mist
The Groom, King Winter, follows her to seek
With icy lips her warmth and golden cheek

Yet she smiles, then meekly turns her sweet face
To yield her burning heart to his embrace
And to this Season's ceremony blessed
I come, a humble and reluctant guest....

It is ... simply perfect, dear Katriona. A sparkling gem.

Nature's ultimate love story.

Dear Katriona, the splendour and power of your poetry create vortices that pull me into ephemeral worlds. I am swirled about in the most delightful of manners.

Cheers to the Winter King and his Autumn Bride!

Love,
Linda

So Spring is the flower girl and Summer Lady-in-Waiting?  I love the thought of Autumn and Winter's marriage and how you brought them to life.

I love this.

Ida, Margherita and Linda I'm so pleased you liked my take on Autumn/Winter

Haha, yes indeed, they probably are Alison,
thanks for your kind and sweet words.

Katriona
