 Artist: Marianne Stokes In Camelot by Linda L. Dowd In Camelot, I dream of knight, Whose kisses make my heart take flight. So rapt am I, I cannot speak, I tremble and my knees grow weak, ~ When he appears on steed of white. His words of charm are sheer delight. I feel a spark ~ within, ignite. With gentle touch, he strokes my cheek. ~ In Camelot He comes to me in still of night, The moment I turn out the light. He doles the love for which I seek. My dreams are sweet. ~ No longer bleak, As I have wished with all my might. ~ In Camelot. . |

These archaic poetic forms are more difficult than they first appear!  They take lots of thought and planning and I usually just like to write 'em! And yes, I'm a sucker for romance. For a few years, when I was a little girl, we lived in the 'boonies' and there were no other children around for me to play with ~ so I used my mind creatively and conjured up a new 'reality' for myself! To the tune of "Camelot". . He comes to you in dreams of lust and passion (I hear those are the only kinds you've got!) A knight whose love is never out of fashion.. Lance-A-Lot! The damsels swoon whenever he rides by them. No passion flame has ever burned so hot! Each hopes the time will come that he might try them.. Lance-A-Lot! Lance-A-Lot! Lance-A-Lot! This handsome knight is oh, so bad. Lance-A-Lot! Lance-A-Lot! He's no Sir Galahad. No need to have your passion dreams aborted When you see that long, shining sword he's got. He's pleased each tender maiden he has courted Lance-A-Lot! Viagra is the steed on which he's mounted, A horse that he can count on in a spot. His conquests are too many to be counted.. Lance-A-Lot! Dream well, Earth Angel. So much lies before you, A ride to Camelot within your reach And, as you take the trip, Recall this little tip.. Paul the Poet ~ Awww, yes. "A labour of love, it was!" In fact, this is my third Rondeau that I have just written. The form actually works well with my style of writing and my love for archaic English. I'm learning a great deal about meter, and rhyme schemes from Balladeer in the Poertry Workshop. It can be very challenging, but I find that it can be very rewarding when I can pull it all together. Thanks Paul! May your evening be as pleasant as you are! Linda |

They ask me how my mood is always merry No matter if the times are good or not. I say, in order not to be contrary.. Laugh-A-Lot! Your bills and obligations keep on mounting And nothing you can do helps out a lot? So take this wise advice and just stop counting.. Laugh-A-Lot! Laugh-A-Lot! Laugh-A-Lot! It's not so very hard to do. Laugh-A-Lot! Laugh-A-Lot! And you will make it through. Black knights will do the best they can to slay you. They'll come at you with everything they've got. Let's send them on their evil ways-what say you? Laugh-A-Lot! Our time is short on this small ball that's spinning And winning's not an easy thing to do. So, when they get you down, Turn everything around It's not that hard to do If you Just Laugh-A-Lot!  |
