September is the dreamy month
Of soft and mellow days
When sunshine spills its seasoned light
On barley fields and maize

Tinting fruit and gilding leaves
On earth without a sound
September in her bounteous glory
Shares her gifts around

The scent of woodsmoke in the air
Is carried on the breeze
And squirrels busy hoarding nuts
Dart quickly through the trees

A patchwork quilt of many shades
Some subtle, others bold
It seems the countryside is clothed
In garments dipped in gold

A quiet peace steals over all
In orchard and in field
As Autumn dances through the land
To gather Nature's yield

As I gaze upon these scenes
I feel my spirits rise
Inspired by this lovely month
Spread now before my eyes

This is very beautiful, Heart2Heart. Both, the poem and the picture. I love the Autumn colors.

Hello Katriona, this is a convincing poem with sweet images and words, there is melody in elements and the description totally fits to autumn moods...Thanks for the superb poem.

this is nice imagery combined and intermingled with peaceful observations, knit together very softly...like a september morning.

Oh, I knew that this would be another seasonal beauty! My word, Katrioan, it elicited audible 'September sighs' from me all the way through the reading of this splendiferous penning!

Hi Janet, and thanks for kind words.  Yes September is my favourite month as well, not too cold and not too hot and the brilliant colours starting to come through
