Despite the pain, despite remorse
And little words that hurt, of course
Though years have put us far apart
Yet laughter sometimes fills my heart

For life has always offered me
A dose of generosity
It seems that I can always find
Some humor in the wells of time

And if some day I cannot laugh
I’d suffer on my own behalf
I would not ever let them see
A person that’s not me, you see

For I am prone to see the best
The sunset skies from east to west
And leave behind an ocean’s swell
Of crystal tears that never fell

This is one of the reasons you have always been my greatest inspiration, Liz. And, you always will be. I always look for your poems. This is beautiful, as always!

Liz,

Sue is so right.  You are an inspiration and you are an incredible poet.  I love your poems for both reasons.  There's a light about them that must come from you.

Thank you for sharing again with us.

Such a great treatment of the used to be and what could have beens and the silent ache either way.

One question. On this:

I’d suffer on my own behalf
I world not ever let them see

Did you mean, "I would not ever let them see"?

It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?
This is a wonderfully positive write, Liz.
