I cannot accept
your apology,
nor can I offer
any forgiveness.

Continually
performing actions
that cause you to feel
the need to apologize,
shows that you are
not truly sorry.

And I cannot
hang my hat
on the hummingbird's antlers

For me to
forgive you,
I would first
have to judge you
as being guilty
of an offense.

I have no axe
to grind upon
your mill stone

You infringe upon yourself.

Offer yourself forgiveness.

Karma can be
a goose down pillow
or a bed of nails

It has been said...

"Things whispered in secret
sound like thunder in Heaven"

"Misdeeds may be done
in a darkened room,
but the eyes of the gods
flash like lightning."

It is due
to the voice
of your own conscience,
that apologies were offered
as compensation for infractions
that you accuse yourself
of having committed.

When the time comes
in which you are
truly sorry...

you must
forgive yourself.

When you are truly sorry
and have forgiven yourself,
there will no longer be the need
to continually apologize.

It is not my will
that any hardship
fall upon you
in recompense
for any wrong
done unto me.

but I am not able
to dictate over Universal Law

My only wish
for you is that,
you someday, stop
being so hard
on yourself.

Well, it is a rainy night in Nebraska complete with thunder and lightening, so I cannot sleep.
But I'm glad of this because I probably would not have seen your poem otherwise.
This is a really nice write with much wisdom included!

Uriah,

Man, this is an eye-opener.  Yes, I like it.  But, I am printing it and keeping it.  It's a good poem to revisit from time to time.  Strong words, but wise words.

Some might say you are being magnanimous.
I think you're just offering upfront and honest wisdom, by repeating a universal truth.
