Past

Eyes hazel, hair black
Green teeth, hairy back
Milkshakes, bear hugs
"I love you, Dad" coffee mugs

Math help, science fair
First place, we did share
Jack-o-Lanterns, Halloween
Never could I call him mean

Secret phone calls, an affair
I cannot say he really cared
We were all conned
But life goes on

Present

Eyes blue, hair grey
Always goes the right way
Bad back, walks with a cane
So bravely does he endure the pain

Hugs, back pats, sincere smiles
Really he is anything but vile
Carved turkeys, place mats
Newly-made lover of cats

Asleep in the chair, cigar smoke
Cases and cases of Diet Coke
Tender, honest, genuine
In the end, it is he who wins
