In silent whispers speaks the night
of strange and sundry thoughts.
On slumbering ears a voice doth call;
it beckons near and far.

Twilight moves in muted softness,
weaving tapestries of dreams;
so effortless, its sweet caress
like a robe with no seams.

To a child it brings visions
of toys and carefree play.
To the old man who lay dying,
warm memories and Judgement Day.

Blue velvet surrounding forest deep,
eluding moonbeams light from heaven;
etching a smile on young love's heart
that hopes true romance stays forever.

To the faithful it brings the answers,
to prayers long prayed in tears.
But to the soul so weary, it says nothing;
the silence bringing peace.

And as its grey surrender bids farewell;
dawn's signal to depart,
it escapes to the other side of midnite
to the solace of its lonely heart.
