Please distract me.
someone, anyone.
It helps in a way

It shoves aside the hurt,
the pain, and the misery.
It lessens the weight
I feel on my chest.

The weight that tries
to push out tears.
the weight that shoves me
to the ground.

The weight I feel
when I think about her
- my puppy, my truest friend

Distract me
so I won't remember.
I think we'll have to
put her down.

Such a sad poem. I hope that she recovers, but if she doesn't - you will always remember her with love and friendship. Putting a pet friend down is so hard, but they let you know when it is time. Sometimes it is the kindest thing to do for them

Please drop me a line and let me know how she is and you are.

The poem is wonderful. Rileigh, you are getting better and better.

Rileigh, I can feel your pain. Not only because you expressed it very well, but I too, have been in a similar situation. Our cat was suffering and we just couln't get ourselves to have her 'put to sleep'. When we could not take watching her suffer any longer, we made the decision to have her put out of her misery. Fortunatley (or unfortunately) the decision was taken out of our hands and she slipped off to heaven with a smile on her sweet face.
I truly feel for you.
