How lovely to welcome Autumn
As she drifts through the misty air
With a crown of Chrysanthemum flowers
Adordning her auburn-bright hair

When summer's sweet beauty is over
And nights grow dark and cold
Then, in her flaming colours
Of amber and scarlet and gold

She touches the meadows and valleys
Igniting the beech and the oak
Trees all aflame along mountains
A fire without the smoke

With her jewels of topaz and rubies
And her smoky-grey, purple gaze
Gentle yet spellbinding Autumn
Walks through the woodland ways

We might yearn for summer to linger
Wild flowers and grasses that grow
Long for those precious hours
And all of the joys we know

But I will sing Autumn's praises
As leaves come fluttering down
And I welcome our Autumn Lady
With her Chrysanthemum-daisy crown

Oh, and what a beauty the Autumn Lady be! ~ and you captured her essence in all of her glory!

This has to be one of my all-time favourite fall poems!

May your autumn be as gracious as your pen!

Heart2Heart,

Quite eloquent this Autumn of yours!  I hadn't been eager to meet her so soon, but after you described her so beautifully in words, I'll have to make acquaintance with such the breath-taking creature in a few weeks or so!

A pleasure to read and to have in my library!

Isn't it amazing that she can wear all that and manage not to look over dressed?  How does she do it?  Must be the natural beauty.  You did her justice, H2H and painted her portrait beautifully.

True your words about Autumn, thanks dear Alison.  And we shall soon be approaching that season here.  I am so glad I stay in a place where I can appreciate the beauty of the shifting seasons, not everyone is as fortunate.

A beautiful rendition of time and place
   transforming with each line
    and exhilarating my senses ...

... I felt an chilling breeze and the scent of maple, outrageously!!

  A great write!
