            Watch or Gun

An old Mafia Don lay dying in bed
And called his only grandson to his side,
‘I wanna you lisin these words that I said
And by my advice I want you abide.’

‘I wanna you take my gold plated gun
As a token you remember me by,
Ita someting I keep for you my grandson,
Your future ita someting I cannot deny.’

‘Grandpa, I know you have my welfare at heart
But I really don’t like guns,’ he responded,
‘Perhaps you could leave me your new Rolex watch,
It would be something by which we’d be bonded.’

‘You lisina me boy’ I give de good advice,
Somea day you gunna runna de bisness I know,
You makea lotsa money, have beautiful wife,
A biga house and a couple of litta bambino.’

‘But whata say you come home onea day
And find de wife in bed with a strange bedamate,
Whata you think you gunna den say,
Pointa your watch and say timea up mate.’

"Whata you think you gunna den say,
Pointa your watch and say timea up mate."

~ What a hilarious closing punch line!

Hmm, did that give the grandson pause for consideraion? Perhaps he decided to take the gold-plated gun, afterall!

I bet in person, Lindsay, you're a laugh a minute and keep people entertained with your stories ~ funny and otherwise.

With love,
Linda Lou

I had NO idea where this was going but cute
it was!

Thanks for checking in on me, Lindsay!
I think I'm ready to kick my little muse
in its poetic backside, whether s/he wants
to be here or not!

Ready for some bacon tomato jam over fresh
sourdough bread?

Lindsay,

This cracked me up so much that my husband has to come read this now!   I can't wait to see his reaction!

BTW: How are gunlaws in Australia now?   Do you still have the right to bear arms?

Loved this!

Wonderful...but if he took the watch he could look at the watch and say "Time to find a more loyal wife."...James

Lindsay,  my dear friend, You so remind me of the great Louis L'Amour.
One of my favorite quotes of his:One day I was speeding along at the typewriter, and my daughter - who was a child at the time - asked me, "Daddy, why are you writing so fast?" And I replied, "Because I want to see how the story turns out!"

I believe this is how you must tell such wonderful stories, Just start typing, then hurry to the end to see what you come up with.

I do so enjoy your work, and you are one of "The Great Story Tellers" of our time.

Thank you for sharing your tallent with the world, and me.

Love always,
Tracey.
