artwork by Janet K. Brennan

She sees poppies peeking from sidewalk cracks
Bathed in drops of dew from the holy page
Lest she forget the message buried deep
For all of life's  lessons are yet untaught
.
He came to her in a midnight dream
Telling secrets, chanting with the holy
Shifting sands between his Midas hands
Dark wizard glowing with a blood -red moon
.
Not for you to know.
It is just a dream. Life is just a dream.
.
A rugged sojourn to a burning core
Afraid she won't return
with the rising sun; surrounded
by grace's light and the fire of hell
.
Skipping through canyons of rock,
Praying they crumble
Exposing the raging war within;
before the battle lost
.
She groans insanities, her darkest dreams
Searching for answers
Yet, wakens to the sound of her own voice
Calling to the god within
.
For she sees blossoms kissing a make-believe sky
Bowing to a lesser god
As he offers her poppies from a far off field
And she disappears beyond her own sight

Your interwoven weave twists 'n turns in magical verse of a bud blossoming in prayers hope.

I am spellbound and had to read this a few times. Quite the journey!

"Not for you to know" ... no, but every woman knows.

So intense and such captivating visions. Great artwork too!

Love,
Margherita

Your picture gives depth to a beautiful piece of poetry I have come to recognise as your signature.

Thanks guys

Hmmmm dark stranger, yes you could be right.  Yet, for some reason, we all seem to fear  not returning.

Thanks for commenting on the title, Bob.  Yes, Poppies, the sweet aphrodesiac of life that dulls our senses to the pain we must endure in order to live and learn those lessons so necessary before we "go home"

Huggs to all

Answers we have no questions for
and beginnings that end each day
nothing lost unless we choose to let it go
