Susan with the hair and hands of a child
Running through the fields for one last time
Here was a child
She was living around the field of corn that night
And one day she found, she found

The way to be alright
To grow up without a father
She couldn't even believe it that she was alive
But susan ran down the stairs
And found out she couldn't hide.

Along the lines of how we lye,
Susan found out she was alright.

Susan never saw, never saw her father pull up next to her
His blue Chevy handy truck, sat around in the dirt paved muck.

Susan never saw another man around
Her mother never let her see inside that blouse.

And this was all too much, all the years of growing up
They began to fade

And one last run through the field of corn
One last hurrah, for this girl, this woman
She was passing her voice to a rising figure
She was passing as the sides of the field lifted her way.
