you wanted to be the strong that I didn’t have in me
to right all the wrongs of things that were done to me
you were big in your plans; all the time not knowing
that your beast would buckle under my burdens
and your knight would die trying to rescue my damsel
and the dragon you thought sleeping was slyly salivating
because fairy tales are just nightmares spun eloquently

you were foolishly optimistic, I loved that about you
wanting to snatch me from sucking sand silence
thinking that maybe if you saved me from myself
it would in turn save parts of me that you might need
so your strong hands dug into me, to pull me to safety
but left nothing but lavender markings; me still sinking
hoping you would be the strong that I didn’t have in me

you were persistent in your consistency; tried to help me
in ways that were foreign to me; me not understanding
how other languages might heal me; lost in translation
until there was just nothing more that could be said
and you and I, neither one, could live sanely in silence
with unspoken truth fingering sign language saying
that you couldn’t be the strong that I didn’t have in me

Beautifully captured.

As is most common, words hold no weight to true feelings.

So I say to you once again,

Beautifully captured.

Dear Shellie, this is quite the analytical masterpiece.

You know by now, that we have within us all the power we need, but still we hope that others hold us through the tempests. And it is a human need to find reassurance. To love means also to sustain each other, no doubt.

I love to read your wonderfully poetic, insightful and powerful words.

Love,
Margherita

Nice one.
A little different style you're trying?

Some very cool lines that make one pause and re-read over.

Very well done.

The titles of your poems grab my attention ~ and then when I see that it's a post by pip's Brown-eyed Beauty, I'm sure to pop in for a read!

You, m'dear have grown from those days when you needed the strength of another. 'Cause Baby, look at you now! Like me, you're  "Standing Strong".

"because fairy tales are just nightmares spun eloquently"

~ I'll have to remember that line! Many Fairy Tales scare the livin' bejeezus out of children ~ and then they are expected to have 'sweet dreams'!

Love you, ss!

brneyedgrly - I'm not sure where you find the words to write like you do, but I find your work in all emotions. You're a great writer, and I enjoy what you write...
