A Wandering Mind

In the nightly silence
a wandering mind paces,
trying to understand
how the wind blows
when yesterday's memory
becomes closer than that.

For the third time
need be more than a caress
since you have been away too long
and I have been left
swinging on dreams.

I shall be standing in moonbeams
erasing the gray,
awaiting that one kiss
on a moonlit night
that shall hold the forever
in this wandering mind.

Hi Maureen...there is so much longing in this dream swing.  Lovely and sad to hear this song so loud and clear.

My mind has been known to wander thusly, as well...

"I shall be standing in moonbeams
erasing the gray,"

~ Great attitude! ~ Great idea!!! I hope there's a full moon for us tonight! ~ Well, you know what I mean! lol

May you not have to wait long for that
"one kiss", Ms. Bliss,
"on a moonlit night
that shall hold the forever
in this wandering mind."

Lovely write.

Maureen - there are times when a wandering mind will receive its thoughts. A heartfelt writing from an excellent poet...

fine imagery of Romanticism ...

I am particularly fond of the ending:

"I shall be standing in moonbeams
  erasing the gray,
  awaiting that one kiss
  on a moonlit night
  that shall hold the forever
  in this wandering mind."

applause for this 'penning' !!

It's easy enough to allow the mind to wander
during such a summer...enjoyed this, Maureen!

Also, thanks for checking in and responding to my poem. I'm grateful for friends like you.

School's almost set to reopen in our neck of the woods...far too early, middle of August. Paahh!

Martie, a poet friend inspired me  with a few phrases to use~~~letting my mind wander.
Thanks and so good to see you again.

Linda, the moon was full and golden, shining through my window the past few nights. I have several "forevers" that will remain  with me, always.

Bill, thank you for being you

Bruce, I love the end thought, too. Hope your summer is treating you well.

Sue, always  happy  to  see you here. Thank you, my friend.

Lori, always missing you but pleased to see you here.
M

shellie, thank you for stopping by, you are a wonderful addition here.

Alison,  thank you for all you do.

Karilea, hoping your spirits are being lifted and yes school will be starting here in 2 weeks. The economy has dampened the summer even if there is no rain in sight. Leaves time to reflect on one's life.
