It’s a hard job
working the streets.

You can get in
loads of trouble out there
without really trying
too hard.

The street is hard,
and the street is mean.

There’s no forgiveness,
and absolutely no leeway
out there on our hard-scrabble
cobbled streets.

Bones can hold his head,
and scream, and cry.
It will do no good.

The streets will show
no mercy.

Bobby

The streets are cold and hard.

They call them a concrete jungle, but at least in the jungle the predators have the decency to wear their own skin.

Yep, Bones learned at an early age, I think, that it's not just the streets that show no mercy.

Hello Bobby, another lesson from streets, I don't wander too much exept while travelling, streets are unsafe after midnight and during the day people don't smile, so nothing to do there...However I agree with the message of the poem...Always enjoyable to read.

Thanks Suncleaver,

Who's skin do you think we wear here in the concrete jungle?  We don't have the money to prance around in furs.

Thanks dear Alison,

"Streets" is a collective word that includes all the people that live on the streets, and the various visitors that we sometimes get.

Thanks Yann,

I'm pleased that you enjoyed the poem.  Here on our street we will smile at you.

That's sometimes scary for people when we smile at them.

Bones may be from the streets, but he is one who has shown kindness and mercy. He is of a higher vibration than the other street people!

Thanks dear Linda,

For the kind words on Bones.  Bones is just like every other person anywhere.
