The rain is falling, pouring Like the tears that fall from my eyes It rained like this the day you left me. The dark is consuming, Like the night I feel inside This Is what I have felt since the day you left me the winds are fierce, berating. They knocked me down just as you did the day you left me. The thunder is furious, loud as is the way of the world since I lost my loving retreat. On the day you left me. The lightning is sharp, painful like the claws of lies and deception that have become all too common since the day you left me. Oh, It might storm like this on the outside today but it will always storm inside of me until my love finally finds me. |

"It rained like this the day you left me." My friend's mother died young, and on the day of her funeral it was freezing cold and raining. That kind of weather (at least the cold) was pretty uncommon for that time of year. And you'd know, you're from Minnesota, too! I guess I was reminded because it always stuck in my head how the weather sometimes plays a drastic part in our lives, conveying how we feel and think. Just like there are times when you're having the worst day possible, and the most fitting song just happens to play on the radio. So random, but so not at the same time. Enjoyed your write, and sorry for the tangent. |
