Paint flows across the snowy white.
The once-white canvas stained with hues.
I watched her soul made into sight
and thought it sad they never knew.

The masterpieces she had born
with wooden brush held firm in hand.
And with each work of art she formed
her flame of passion would expand.

Until her every hope was caught
upon her rapture to create.
Make proud the parents she had fought.
But their repentance came too late.

Her parents had denied her art.
They turned away so long ago.
They called it useless, broke her heart.
How sad it is they'll never know.

She always had forgiven them
and hoped her art would make them glad.
She prayed that they would not condemn
her life-long love, as they once had.

Her face belied the coming sleep
that only could her paintings tell.
They broke the heart that loved so deep.
And in its death, the paintbrush fell.

She died with out the mourning dove.
Her parents give their last farewell.
Because they never found their love
their daughter died, the paintbrush fell.
*Note: The mourning dove is a dove that is associated with peace. So she died without peace.

Your poem is full of sorrow and deep saddnes, however it is so very well put together.
You've expressed your feelings and the love of your art with a bittersweet pen.

a belated welcome to you~

So poignant but so very well done, like already said.  A very sad tale has been told so well.

When someone has a passion ignited, and those that should believe in them don't recognize it, and put out the fire, we lose a lot of talent in this world.

It's been a long time since a poem brought a tear to my eye, but this one did.  I understand
the passion she had for artistic expression.  It is important that the passion be shared.  You presented it wery well.  to the library...

This is a very fine piece of expressive ~ and compassionate ~ writing.

"Her face belied the coming sleep
that only could her paintings tell.
They broke the heart that loved so deep.
And in its death, the paintbrush fell."

~ So sad. So very, very sad...
