Who really cares

Who really cares

about beauty.
It coats the bottom of my boots
at least once a week.
I read the papers and see
that it gets punched
in the face everyday.

Who really cares

about love,
all sharp edged and jagged
It cuts you even if you do.
It always stays
at my neighbors house,
never showing up at my door
with a pie.

Who really cares

about the passage of time.
My hands continue to ache,
the clock speaks its calloused song,
as my tears seep through the floor
and pool in the basement.

It's hard to respond to this because I've pondered the same question and came to no conclusion only I haven't put it so eloquently as you.

Excellent imagery Tim.  Left a lump in my throat.

Powerful poetic imagery, dear Yoinn.

Now, make that pie and bring it to your neighbour ... it works like this. And you do care, I am sure.

Sending you some sunshine to dry out the basement

Love,
M

Perhaps Margherita is right, Yoinn, (she is very wise) I think caring does attract caring. Do you know how to bake a pie? You sure know how to write a poem.

Yoinn - I don't really know what to say, as I've been in that place, and didn't know the words when I was there...

It's interesting to consider who really cares.  I love the way you wrote this - beauty on the bottom of your boot.  Who will show up at your door with a pie?  I think I got those right - if not, those are the thoughts I carry away.  The lovely is so often overlooked for the sensational.  Maybe people are not told to care - they are only told how to think.

You get me thinking about the most interesting things.
