typical apartment in Montecchia di Crosara, Italy

The house empty,
Only the mourning doves
know my song
Summer drips through my veins
begging a prayer
of cool winds from Chiampo

Dust rises, smokey phantoms
melt into piles of dirt
on Via San Pietro,
leaving misty gray veils
amidst grape vines napping
in the mid-day sun

Sounds of wet surf, miles away
seduce my heart
into lust filled dreams
left-over from the night before

Agosto in questa villagio
More bitter than sweet
in this empty house
where only the mourning doves
Know my song

Yo dear Jan,

I have always been a great fan of terrazzo flooring.  It can be very beautiful.  I also like your poem very much.

Oh how wonderful to find someone else who has been in Montecchia...so far, you are the first I have found.  Well, as you know, Monetcchia is a beautiful village in the heart of the Soave Bolla wine district, just miles and miles of grapes.  It is also about 30 miles off the beaten path and a winding drive along the Via de'lla Alpone.  My time there was life altering.

Huggs to you both

Charming village and charming verses, beautiful with a melancholic touch.

You rendered the August atmosphere so very well.

Love,
Margherita

Thanks Marg

Yes, August in taly can be and is very hot.  Everyone there takes off for the beaches and lakes  for vacations and the inland villages are like little ghost towns(lol)  No air conditioning, just fans.

The singing Uni-Verse of Sweet-water dance upon the waving ripple of the tongue.
