our mornings would often just swallow into day
like the leftover part was still on the lips
some fog kind of overcast lipstick lingering

and I would roll sumatra around in my cup
like a child turning over sand to look under
and see if there were secrets no one knew about

on occasion you would be taller than me walking
but you let your eyes be the same kind of friendly
when you spilled your favorite hello on my shirt

then looked away before my eyes found your charms
not that they were really lost or even hidden
but more, you didn't want to know me wanting

and if we never met, would our glancing be eye to eye

"when you spilled your favorite hello on my shirt"

You use such powerful metaphors but you do it so nonchalantly that I am forced to be calm.

I enjoy your spills.

Love all of this, to begin with the title, and especially

quote:
and I would roll sumatra around in my cup
like a child turning over sand to look under
and see if there were secrets no one knew about

Secrets and mysteries keep us wondering and vigil and alive ...

Love,
Margherita

LIked this one very much, felt like I was walking along with you on this one.  I love your play on nouns and verbs.  Very different.

D,

It's time for my goodnight story/poem and I'll just drift on this one tonight.  You make me smile with your magical way of writing.

Oh and thank you.  A little sanity is always appreciated.

Copying the best poetic lines would be impossible... so I just copied the one that makes me want a cup of java... and more. *S*

Love this!

Oh Dark Stranger - This one made me feel as though I was walking by and stolen glances were stolen between two lovers.

Thanks for sharing - you have an incredible way with words!
