Don't laugh at the weak one;
they might be your friend.
They're "so helpless" and still.
They might help you to stand
when no one else will.

Don't laugh at the stupid one;
they might be smarter than you.
They're "not very bright,"
But they just might teach you
the lessons of life.

Don't laugh at the wierd one;
they might be more normal than you.
They "just don't belong."
But they can show you the fun
in singing a different song.

Don't laugh at the uncool one;
they might be more cool than you.
They're "so uncool they don't even know."
They might be more real than you
and give you the chance when the real you shows.

Don't laugh at me;
No matter what I'm like.
I'm not going to laugh, too.
I'm not going to judge
until I find the real you.

Don't laugh at me;
then I will judge with respect
for the differences I see.
I won't ever condemn you
so don't laugh at me.

Dear Melissa, thank you for sharing this wonderfully insightful and most beautifully written poem.

I totally agree with your thoughts.

One of the most disturbing things in relationships with others, is this kind of "feeling superior" to others, which is really never never justified.

Congratulations on this great piece of poetry!

Love,
Margherita

There is a great deal of wisdom in this poem
UNTAMED. I like the way you think.

Very nicely done.  If only, if only, the advice in your poem was followed more frequently, but it often seems we have become a society when the rabid pack is always circling for the kill:  homosexuals here, immigrants there, other religions over here.  Who will be next?
A wonderfully written plea for sanity.  Thank you.

UNTAMEDelegance

Such good advice, but "they" never seem to learn,that somehow we know that underneath their arrogance they are really so unsure.
