Yah old babe

I want
To put down words
As make you wet inside

I want you to believe
I’m God’s gift revealed

Miraculously on this site
I want you to ooze
At your discovery

What does it matter

As we stroke each other
On the keyboard
Life in fact
Is just a dream

And in the end
We are nothing then
So let’s fool ourselves
With just a little fun

And why shouldn’t we
Given that eventuality
Since finally after all

When it comes as it does
Near the close of things
Who’s to say
That we are  wrong

You bet you got my attention with this "Ersatz". For many lonely people the virtual world is indeed some kind of "surrogate" to real life. But in the end, as you suggest, why not?

Very impactful write, John.

If life is a dream, the colors of this dream are assembled by the dreamer ... so even if age at times induces many of us to think that the bright colors are not adequate ... it is everybody's own dream, suggested by hearts that never age, and nobody will convince me ever that I can't put in some passionate colors, just because of some wrinkles that suggest that I am beyond dreams ...

In my eyes it's not as much a question of having fun, as it is of living love till the last breath ... before the great leap into the unknown (of course I have my beliefs concerning this "unknown").

Sorry for babbling, I know you hate it ...

Thank you for this.

in the end...
yes, it may be fantasy,
but whatever an individual embraces
"whole" heartedly
becomes their reality

sometimes people get 'burned'
but this also happens
when relationships begin
at a picnic in the park

but do watch out for the
proverbial 'predators'

I agree, but I truly must say that I have come across some wonderful poets here on this site.  Ineed we all need to dream and here is what a very, very vary (lol) famous dreamer of a poet I know by the name of JB Stillwater (Janet K. Brennan) has to say on the subject

I caught a dream, or it caught me
it challenged my reality
A dream so pure, for my heart's sake
I prayed that I would ne'er awake
~
Gold curls, angelic crowned her head
"You've caught a dream, my mum," she said
"For life is but a Sparrow's song
Quick and sweet, please sing along
~
I'll help you catch what dreams, I may
until we see the light of day
But you must promise not to cry
At dream's end, when we say good-bye
~
I'll weave a net with threads so strong
I promise that it won't take long
You'll catch your dreams, the net will fill
Let's place it on the window sill
~
Know, we were meant to catch each dream
For things are never as they seem
So live your dreams, for they are you
Embrace your hopes, for dreams come true
~
So, I learned that dreams and streams
Of woven net without said seams
Will oft' times catch what is beyond
What lies in wait twixt dark and dawn

~~~
