My mirror is a strange thing.

Some days my mirror is a nice one.
The image looking back is
a friendly person.
She smiles
and lights up the world.
She is friendly and warm.

Some days my mirror is a mean one.
The person staring at me
is cruel;
spiteful.
She wants to inflict pain
upon everything and everyone.

Some days my mirror is a brave one.
The hero standing in front of me
is a protector
of the weak.
She will give her life
to help those
who can't help themselves.

Some days my mirror is an indifferent one.
The face looking through mine
just doesn't care.
Nothing shakes
the unfeeling mask.
Nothing brings emotion.

Some days my mirror is a sad one.
Tears are the language
of the girl that sobs to me.
Her world is full
of misery
and sorrow
and pain.

Some days my mirror is a pretty one.
Beauty and grace are painted
on face of this girl.
She walks on clouds of air
and the air sings
with joy.

Some days my mirror is an ugly one.
The girl in my view is
plain and worse.
She hides behind everything
to escape notice.
She doesn't like herself.

Some days my mirror is all of these.
The girl is confused
aching from all people
stuffed inside of her body.
She doesn't know which one to choose;
who to be.

On these days my mirror is a lying one.
I smile brightly and pray to heaven
that no one notices
all the people hiding behind my eyes;
the people lurking behind
the deceitful smile.

I wish my mirror would make up its mind.
