Heatwave
By: Noah Eaton
7/25/09

(Alert!
The National Weather Service,
has issued a “Special Weather Statement”,
late Thursday afternoon,
warning about a heat wave,
that will begin this weekend,
and last on through the extended forecast,
due to a stalled upper level low pressure system,
over Eastern Oregon!)

(Once this low moves east,
and well away from the area early next week,
most inland conditions will see temperatures,
well up into the triple-digit range,
with overnight lows hovering around 80 degrees)

(There remains uncertainty,
as to when this heat wave will break,
but the National Weather Service,
will issue more statements about this event,
over the coming days)

(Until then,
be sure to drink plenty of water,
wear plenty of sunblock,
consider wearing a hat when you step outside,
and limit outdoor activity,
to avoid physical exhaustion...)

.
.
.
.
.
There’s a heat advisory,
in effect across my heart,
its regional temperatures,
are soaring off the charts,
there’s no sign of rain,
on the Doppler Radar,
there’s something inside of me,
burning like a flare star…

(It takes 212 degrees to boil water,
it takes 451 degrees to burn paper,
but only you know how much it takes,
to make my heart caper,
she thinks I know all about thernodynamics,
well I better look out, cuz she's coming!
she can make me melt to my knees,
before she reviews that first law to me!)

Go on, make my day, spark arrester,
try and mummify yourself in aramid,
you know love is friendship set on fire,
so hot it can kiss the wind!

(Let this be my red flag warning,
my peak fire season runs for twelve months!
Baby, you know how to light my fire,
you set my heart on fire for your love!)

Ooh ooh,
you’ve set off,
a heatwave across my heart,
yes you have,
yes you have,
yeah!
Ooh ooh,
you’ve set off,
a heatwave across my heart,
yes you have,
yes you have,
hey!
.
.
.

(That hotshot crew may be hot...)
.
.
(...but they ain't as hot as us...)
.
.
(...love is the rose, passion is the thorn...)
.
.
(...in your underburn, you have me floored...)
.
.
.
Her heartsong can burn through any layer of Nomex,
she's thwarted every coyote tactic,
when she smiles she makes your heart skip a beat,
when she shakes her hips it's thermodynamic!)

When she starts dancing she twists like a tropical depression,
and when she rocks and rolls she's a hurricane,
the oceans are boiling and the volcanoes bursting,
she gives all my inner-most secrets free rein!)

Ooh ooh,
you’ve set off,
a heatwave across my heart,
yes you have,
yes you have,
yeah!
Ooh ooh,
you’ve set off,
a heatwave across my heart,
yes you have,
yes you have,
hey!

(On a day like this,
I ought to ride down the log flume,
or switch on a dozen Vornados,
and take up knitting in my back room,
but no anchor point,
can withstand love's rate of spread,
I’m wrapped in the fingers of your flame,
and you’re all that’s treading in my head!)
.

(Let this be my red flag warning,
my peak fire season runs for twelve months!)
Baby, you know how to light my fire,
you set my heart on fire for your love...
.

Ooh ooh,
you’ve set off,
a heatwave across my heart,
yes you have,
yes you have,
yeah!
Ooh ooh,
you’ve set off,
a heatwave across my heart,
yes you have,
yes you have,
hey!
.
.
.
(It’s twenty degrees hotter on the sidewalk,
than it is in the shade,
but the way you heat things up,
puts all the asphalt to shame…)
.
.
.
(It takes 212 degrees to boil water,
it takes 451 degrees to burn paper,
but only you know how much it takes,
to make my heart caper…)

Dear Noah, this was a pure pleasure to read, even though I am sitting in the heat! Loved the heatwave forecast combined with your heart being set on fire.

Very lovely work and great song to be sung in full sunshine, so that the melting can be started.

Love,
Margherita

Hello, my dear Angel Boy-Man!

There are "heatwaves" and then there are H-E-A-T-W-A-V-E-S!!!

"you know love is friendship set on fire"

~ Absolutely adore that line!!!

Sending an ice-cold blaster juice to cool you down and slake that thirst of yours!

Linda
