If I could gather innocence
And tuck it safe away
Locked up inside a treasure box
Safeguarded night and day

I’d never more unlatch the chest
Nor even take a peek
Nor would my spoken word divulge
The secret that I keep

For purity of spirit
Is a gift of golden worth
And if I were to gather it
From all across the earth

It’s splendor would not match
This single moment filled with grace
And simplicity of truth displayed
Across your little face

You see with your heart, as do the little ones, thus the creation of this perfection.

Wonderfully penned.

What a gem of a poem for a loving mum and grandmother to read.  Oh let us all try to keep those innocent little souls safe. Simply beautiful Elizabeth.

My but they are all growing up way too fast Liz.  I sure wish I was on the train with N and C, maybe next year?  Love you!

I love the fact that some adults carry that innocence into adulthood, and let that little light shine.    Be-oot-te-ful

Liz, you know how emotional I can get, well, I'm experiencing a very emotional moment, right now. Tears are literally welling in my eyse with the loving purity of your words. I understand completely. I truly do.

God bless our innocent little loved ones ~ and you.

Awe..this was so sweet and what a treasure they indeed are, especially with their innocense..you do want to lock them away to protect them from what for them will eventually be a cruel world that they will inherit....it's imparative that they are built strong...Loved the rhythm and rhyme schemed in this, as well as the imagery....PS
