Close to midnight
I heard the day yawning
and I frowned ...
he bowed and,
with his eyes almost shut,
he sadly whispered:
“I have come for you
and I have been with you
for twenty-four hours ...
I have waited for you,
but you did not come out
to play ...

"My beloved" - he sighed -
"you did not dance“!

Awareness dawned.
He withdrew his outstretched arms
and just before he dissolved
into nothingness,
within his last glance
a single tear of sorrow
reverberated for just an instant,
melancholically,
like a fading rainbow.

Oh, Dolphina, this draws a tear to my eye as well. I suppose even playful dolphins have their down moments when they do not feel like playing or dancing ~ even with rainbows.

Margherita, the picture is lovely, but the poem is even lovelier.  What an excellent way to teach such an important lesson!  Done with such beauty!  This should be the preface to at least one book that all school pupils encounter in their lifetime, whether a poetry, Maths or Domestic Science book - or any other book.  It is a masterpiece.

Margherita,
You take the reader on a visual journey, replete with images, yet leave plenty of room for the imagination to revel a bit. You have a gift, dear poetess

Thank you, my dear Poet friends, for your heartwarming comments.

We are meant to dance through life and it is a pity when we sometimes don't hear the tune, the life breathing energy that moves through everything and invites us always to gracefully dance along.

Thank you once again.
May you all dance today, so that the day, fulfilled, will leave with kisses and smiles in perfect gratitude ...

Yo dear Margherita,

It's a bad thing when people won't come out and play.  Then not dancing on top of it.

Must do better.
